Permanent Residue
We spend so much of our lives asking existence to explain itself.
What are we here for? What are we supposed to become? What will remain when all of this is over?
Maybe there is no answer waiting for us. Maybe life was never given a purpose before we arrived. There is no hidden assignment, no legacy we are required to build, and no greater version of ourselves we must become before we are allowed to feel that our time here mattered.
Most of us will never make history. Our names will not be carved into anything permanent. But perhaps being forgotten is not the same as having lived for nothing.
What happens on earth stays on earth.
Every title, mistake, expectation, wound and moment of happiness belongs to this temporary place. None of it follows us forever. That may sound lonely, but there is freedom in it too. Once you stop waiting for someone to save you, define you or give your life meaning, you are left with something frighteningly simple: your life is yours.
Maybe we are not here to become unforgettable.
Maybe we are only here to stop abandoning ourselves while we are still alive. To feel what is real. To choose what makes this brief existence belong to us.
Not everything has to become a legacy.
Sometimes, leaving behind a little residue is enough.
